Steep Target Download Free: Understanding the Altitude Value and Target Marker

When using the steep target download free feature, it's essential to understand the altitude value of the target marker and how it affects the measurement process. The altitude value is the depth of the sea at the location of the target marker, and if the marker is located on the ocean, a negative value will be downloaded.

To automatically download the altitude value of the target marker, simply select the Tap Edit Target Altitude box to change the altitude of the target marker. However, it's important to note that no recalculation of altitude data will occur when a marker is moved by the user.

The Map screen features two draggable markers: blue for the location of the mobile device and red for the target location. The distance meter always stops at the horizon (the summit) and doesn't require cursor compensation. To locate a mountain summit at the horizon, simply aim the crosshairs over the summit.

When using the steep target download free feature, it's also important to update the red target marker on both the Map and Camera screens. This will ensure accurate calculations of distance and altitude.

On the Chart screen, the Sight line and Altitude profile show the distance from sea level up to 80km from the device camera. To calculate the distance to a target at the crosshairs, aim the red crosshairs towards the target and wait for the 2.5-second countdown to complete.
